Right Bank Bordeaux

The Right Bank of Bordeaux is home to some of the region’s most celebrated wines, particularly from Pomerol and Saint-Émilion. Merlot typically takes centre stage, often supported by cabernet franc, producing wines with generous flavours of ripe plum, black cherry and blackberry alongside notes of violet, cocoa, cedar and spice. Depending on terroir and vintage, styles range from plush and opulent to elegant and mineral-driven, with limestone and clay soils contributing freshness, structure and depth. The finest examples balance concentrated fruit with polished tannins and impressive complexity. Many are enjoyable in their youth, while top wines can evolve beautifully for 15 to 30 years or longer. With age, fresh fruit and floral notes gradually give way to layers of tobacco, truffle, leather, dried herbs and earthy complexity.
